Contact Us
The address for everything is [email protected]. There is no contact form and no ticket number. Mail goes to Ashar Pervaiz, who built the site, and replies normally come back within 24 to 48 hours on working days. Numbers On Your Tip is run from Karachi, Pakistan, so if you write from the UK or North America the reply will usually be waiting when you next open your inbox.
If a Calculator Gave You the Wrong Answer
This is the message worth sending, and the one that gets answered fastest. A wrong figure on a calculator is a bug in the same way a crash is, and it gets treated like one.
Three things make it quick to fix:
- Which page you were on, or the link itself.
- The numbers you typed in.
- What came out, and what you expected instead. If the figure came from a payslip, a bill or a textbook, say which.
That last point does most of the work. Plenty of reports turn out to be two different definitions of the same word rather than an arithmetic error, and knowing where your expected figure came from is what separates the two. Either way you get an answer: if the calculator is wrong it gets corrected, and if it is right the page gets a clearer explanation of why, because if one person read it that way others did too.
Anything touching dosing or clinical use goes to the pharmacist who reviews those pages before the page changes. Who reviews the clinical calculators explains how that works.
Suggesting a Calculator
Suggestions are welcome and several of the tools here started as one. The useful version of the message is the question you were trying to answer rather than the tool you imagined, because quite often the sum already exists on the site under a name you would not have searched for. If it does, you will get the link. If it does not, it goes on the list.
What This Inbox Cannot Do
It cannot tell you what to do with your own money, your own tax return or your own medication. The calculators work out figures and the guides explain how those figures behave, but none of it is advice about your particular situation, and answering as though it were would be worse than useless. For anything that turns on your circumstances, the arithmetic here is a starting point to take to an accountant, a solicitor or a clinician, not a substitute for one. The disclaimer sets out where that line sits.
Privacy, Data and Takedown Requests
The calculators run in your browser and the numbers you type are not sent anywhere, so for most people there is nothing stored to ask about. What is collected, and how to ask about it, is in the privacy policy and the cookie policy. Copyright and takedown notices reach the same address and are dealt with directly rather than through a form.
Press, Linking and Reuse
You are free to link to any page here without asking. If you want to quote a figure, a worked example or one of the explanations in something you are publishing, write and say where it is going. Permission is almost always yes, and it is worth asking only so the page can be checked for accuracy before it is quoted somewhere it cannot easily be corrected.
